- DDDDEEEESSSSCCCCRRRRIIIIPPPPTTTTIIIIOOOONNNN
- The _s_m_t_s_t_a_t command displays the contents of various FDDI-related data
- structures and Station Management (SMT) values.
-
- When invoked without any options, _s_m_t_s_t_a_t shows the state of FDDI
- interfaces which have been set with ssssmmmmttttccccoooonnnnffffiiiigggg. By default, the first
- interface turned on is shown. See the comments in
- /_e_t_c/_c_o_n_f_i_g/_n_e_t_i_f._o_p_t_i_o_n_s for details.
-
- The default display shows various MAC statistics such as packet, frame
- and token counts and rates and transmit and receive error counts.
-
- The options have the following meaning:
-
- ----nnnn Show MAC addresses and SMT values as numbers. In continuous mode
- (----CCCC), certain SMT values are displayed symbolically, and MAC
- addresses are converted into names using the data bases /_e_t_c/_e_t_h_e_r_s
- or the NIS _e_t_h_e_r_s._b_y_n_a_m_e map. If a symbolic name for an address is
- unknown, or if the ----nnnn option is specified, the MAC address is
- printed numerically as 6 hexadecimal numbers separated by colons
- (for example, 8:0:69:1f:a:6d). This can be toggled with the N mode
- command.
-
- ----vvvv Display more information. With ----vvvv, additional kernel-level
- information is displayed. With ----vvvvvvvv, additional daemon-level
- information is displayed.
-
- ----CCCC Continuously show FDDI activity of all configured interfaces. To
- display properly, the window or screen should be at least 24 lines
- high by 80 columns wide. The ----vvvv, ----bbbb, and ----iiii options are ignored
- with this option.
-
- The default screen shows I/O and error counters. Once inside
- _s_m_t_s_t_a_t, certain keys change the program's behavior. The keys and
- their effects are as follows:
-
- 1 Display the MAC activity and error counters.
-
- 2 Display Port status and error counters.
-
- 3 Display ring management information.
-
- 4 Display configuration information.

-
-
-
- 5 Display neighbor information.
-
- 6 Display other SMT information.
-
- d Display incremental values of chosen information over given
- interval in second. Default interval is 1 second.
-
- z Display incremental values of chosen information since the time
- when ``z'' key was typed.
-
- r Display current total values of chosen information.
-
- n Toggle between numeric and symbolic display.
-
- + - Next or previous interface.
-
- ^L Redraw the screen.
-
- q quit the program.
-
- ----IIII _i_n_t_e_r_f_a_c_e
- Show information only about this interface (for example, ipg0); used
- with an _i_n_t_e_r_v_a_l as described below. The interface display provides
- a table of cumulative statistics regarding packets transferred,
- errors, and status of each SMT state machine like Ring Management
- (RMT), Configuration Management (CFM), Connection Management (CMT),
- and Entity Coordination Management (ECM). The network address and
- symbolic name of the interface are also displayed.
-
- ----iiii Show all FDDI interfaces, except in continuous mode (----CCCC).
-
- ----bbbb Show addresses in FDDI bit order instead of canonical bit order,
- except in continuous mode.
-
- _i_n_t_e_r_v_a_l
- With an _i_n_t_e_r_v_a_l specified, _s_m_t_s_t_a_t will fetch and display the
- information regarding FDDI states and counters on the configured
- FDDI interfaces every _i_n_t_e_r_v_a_l seconds.
-

- /etc/ethers MAC address database
